Intraoral Camera

Dentist capturing images with intraoral camera

This small device allows us to capture highly detailed images of your teeth and gums during your routine exams. We can then display them on a large monitor right in the treatment room. This enables our team to quickly spot any oral health issues you might have, plus we can go over your images with you so you know exactly what we’re seeing, making appointments more transparent and easier to understand.

3D Cone Beam Imaging

A typical dental X-ray looks at just a few teeth, but sometimes, we need to see all of a patient’s dental anatomy at once. This is when we use our 3D cone beam scanner, which creates a model of the teeth, jawbone, and adjacent oral structures. It reveals much more detail than normal X-rays, allowing us to plan for more involved procedures like dental implant placement. This enables us to personalize the treatment to guarantee a successful outcome and fast recovery.

All-Digital X-Rays

Digital dental x-rays on tablet computer

We know that many patients are concerned about the radiation emitted by dental X-rays, and we completely understand—we’re around them all day, every day! Thankfully, we only use digital X-rays, which in addition to being faster and sharper than film, also reduce radiation exposure by up to 90%! They even allow us to show a patient their images seconds after taking them, giving someone a deeper understanding of their oral health.

CEREC® Digital Impression System

CEREC digital impressions on chairside computer

Making a dental impression use to require a patient to spend minutes biting into a mold filled with odd-tasting dental putty. This process is slow, messy, and often doesn’t even create an accurate impression! That’s why we have long upgraded to the CEREC digital impression system. Now, we simply scan the teeth with a small device, and within minutes, a perfect model of the bite is created by software, which you’ll be able to see on a nearby monitor. We can then use this to design and personalize a wide array of treatments.

Soft-Tissue Laser Dentistry

Patient receiving soft tissue laser dentistry treatment

The gums are very sensitive tissues, and in the past, treating them for periodontal disease was not exactly comfortable, often involving incisions and sutures. Today, however, our soft-tissue laser allows us to eliminate harmful bacteria from deep below the gum line and remove infected tissue more precisely and painlessly than ever. The laser emits practically no heat, sound, or vibration, and because it cauterizes an area as it works, most patients don’t feel anything while they are being treated. This approach drastically cuts down on recovery time as well.

CBCT Scanner

C B CT digital x-ray scanner tool

When our team needs to see a truly comprehensive view of not only the patient's teeth, but their jaw, gums, nerves, and even sinuses, our revolutionary CBCT scanner can help. This technology generates three-dimensional, exhaustively detailed X-rays in just a few minutes, allowing for more precise diagnoses and confident treatment planning. The patient simply stands still as the motorized arm rotates 360 degrees around their head, capturing lots of images from different angles that are reconstructed into a seamless final result.

Platelet-Rich Plasma

Theroux Dental Associates is pleased to be offering a new, state of the art adjunctive treatment to our patients undergoing surgical procedures: PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin). It has been documented for years that this is a form of regenerative medicine that harnesses your body’s own natural growth factors to accelerate healing.

Plasma is the liquid portion of whole blood that is composed mainly of water and proteins that provide a medium for red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets to circulate throughout your cardiovascular system. Fibrin is a protein found in the blood and liver that plays a role in blood clotting and would healing. Therefore, both plasma and fibrin are blood by-products and are both very rich in platelets.

PRP, as a blood component, can be mixed into bone graft material resulting in a graft that is rich in platelets and natural growth factors to accelerate the graft healing.

PRF can be used to create a “membrane” over a surgical wound (ie. extraction socket). Because it is rich in platelets and natural growth factors, healing is accelerated while post-operative complications are minimal because it is used as a barrier between the socket and the oral cavity. As such, patients also experience much less post-operative discomfort.

To obtain these blood components, a small amount of your own blood is collected and then immediately placed into a centrifuge to collect the PRP or PRF, depending on the clinical need. The PRP &/or PRF will then be used within minutes of removing it from the centrifuge. You will have a bandaid placed over the drawing area as you would with routine bloodwork.

We are very excited to be able to offer this advanced level of service to you! We are confident that you will end up with the very best result using this technology.
